only a few days left now until we can all use a great excuse to eat chocolate!
First thrifty project today is something I saw on Pinterest. I looked at it and thought I can do that. Best of all this Easter project is FREE! Yep you read that right 0000$
Easter Banner
You can make it as long or as short as you like. Also an easy project for kids to help with.
- Go to the paint department of your local hardware store - or anywhere that sells paint and grab as many paint sample chips as you think you need. Choose the colours you want - I chose soft spring colours. The original idea I saw used the 4 colour chips, and cut two eggs out of each. But my local store had the 3 colour chips.
- Cut out a template with cardboard (or use your diecutting machine) and trace on to the back of the chips.
- Cut the egg shapes out.
- Punch 2 small holes into the top of each egg
- Arrange them in the order/colourway you like
- Thread ribbon, string, bakers twine - you choose.
- Hang your Easter Garland up!
I am probably going to add a few frou-frous to this one and I might even spell Easter out along it.
This next thrifty idea I shamelessly stole from MS.
Easter Baskets
I am sure you all have some doilies around - if not - check thrift stores and garage sales!
Stitched (not paper) doily
Bowl in the shape of the basket you would like to make
Fabric stiffener
1. Soak doily in bowl of fabric stiffener until saturated.
2. Remove doily from stiffener and place over bowl (or along inside of bowl) to form a basket shape.
3. Allow to dry. Carefully peel dried basket from bowl.
Just imagine spritzing these with Smooch Spritz, or glitzing it up with some Stickles!
I love those doily baskets! I have several projects that need doilies and can't find them locally.....boo hoo!
